Movie Night!

Really short reviews:

Watched E.T. on Nick with the Boo last night. Dear Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Lucas - please stop messing with my childhood memories. Thank you. Cognitive Dissonance ruled the night as we tried to get through the movie without saying "Ummm... is it just me or does E.T. look... weird?" every 10 minutes. The CGI was not working for me here. The Boo liked the movie though. And she cried when she thought E.T. was dead. She actually took the Bambi's mother scene much better. So, it's still a good movie, just not quite the movie I remember watching when I was her age.

After the little one went to bed, we (finally) watched Ocean's Twelve (it was that or the copy of Cat People I've had sitting in a Netflix envelope for a few weeks and I'd had enough of the 80's for one night). The movie had a couple of issues at the beginning (apparently the villian has superpowers and can travel around the country and visit 11 different people in only 24 hours for some reason), and the end (I feel like, in movies of this type, you should be able to have at least a reasonable shot at guessing the twist, like in The Usual Suspects where you immediately want to go back and watch the whole movie over again so you can slap your forehead and go "Oh, yeah! I get it now!" Maybe that's just me.) Anyhow, other than that it was a fun, fun movie, and continues to undermine my determination to write off Brad Pitt and George Clooney as overrated pretty boys. I still find Matt Damon about as hot as a Slurpee, though. (Who paid you off, People Magazine!?)
